COMANEX is committed to carrying out its business activities with due regard to health, safety and environment. It is the Company's policy to endeavour to eliminate or minimize accidents and to progressively reduce emissions and waste through the development and maintenance of a formal health, safety and environmental management system. This shall be undertaken in full compliance with the terms of the French laws and international standards. Further, COMANEX may develop more stringent Company health, safety and environmental (HSE) standards as appropriate.

 

The Management Team of COMANEX is committed to a policy to:


Provide a safe and healthy workplace for employees, and concurrently maintain equal safeguards  to protect neighbors of our facilities;

Give health, safety and environmental accountability equal importance with financial standards when evaluating managerial performance;

Provide sufficient resources to ensure these policies are carried out. Liaise with Government authorities regarding the development of construction industry HSE initiatives.

 

 

The following shall serve as policy guidelines:

 

1.

Each employee is expected to conduct himself on the job in an environmentally responsible and safe manner in accordance with this policy. Any knowing violation of this policy may be reason for disciplinary action, including, in the extreme, termination of employment.


2.

All affected plant, field and facility managers and supervisors and certain non-supervisory employees will be evaluated each year on their AHSE work performance under the Company's annual employee appraisal program.


3.

Managers within the Company headquarters and those responsible for operating facilities are assigned the responsibility of assuring compliance with this policy, and with all applicable laws and regulations.

 

Operating management shall implement this policy by:

Ensuring that all employees have read or received instructions regarding the policy.

Operating and maintaining facilities in a safe manner. The priority for response/actions is health and safety, environment and then property.

Providing training programs to ensure that employees are competent and have the desire to achieve high levels of HSE performance. Recognized and reward high standards of environmental performance.

Developing and implementing programs and detailed operating procedures to ensure compliance with standards.

Maintaining open communications with communities to explain these policies and to provide timely and accurate information on HSE matters as they pertain to the operations. Maintaining updated contingency plans to respond to any foreseeable HSE emergency that might occur. Reporting all HSE issues and incidents/accidents to the Manager of health, safety and environmental (HSE) and providing the HSE department with statistical data when requested.

Implementing specific and meaningful HSE goals, with an aim towards continuously improving performance.

The HSE department is responsible for assessing COMANEX's general HSE practices and procedures and for providing expertise to operating management and their staffs to comply with this policy.

 

To implement this policy, HSE Department is responsible for establishing and maintaining a documented management system for:


Developing and periodically updating the corporate Health, Safety and Environmental Performance Principles and general procedures to serve as directives for the facilities and the employees who work there.

Measuring and evaluating COMANEX's health, safety and environmental performance; collecting, monitoring and maintaining statistical data; and preparing reports required by regulation or senior management to assess the Company's adherence to these policies.

 

Reviewing on a routine basis the ongoing programs and operating procedures of all divisions and facilities and advising operating management on ways to improve HSE performance.

Setting specific, meaningful and cost effective HSE performance standards for COMANEX, placing emphasis on goals to attain continuous improvement in these areas. Identifying and reporting to senior management, in a prompt manner, significant HSE liabilities. Auditing facilities to assess compliance with HSE laws and adherence to company policies and procedures.

 

COMANEX will communicate with business partners, sub-contractors, vendors and other third parties to ensure that all the activities associated with COMANEX operations adhere to the company's HSE policy.

 

Further, COMANEX may develop more stringent company health, safety and environmental (HSE) standards as appropriate.
